silverstu
Those centaurs are amazing! Fantastic conversions and your painting is, as ever, wonderful! I just got the Kurnothi war band and was thinking of adding to then- you've given me loads of ideas. Cain I ask where the braided hair came from? daveboy
Thank you very much. The lord head and the braided hair is from the Wood Elf Blood bowl Team! Of course you can ask.

I had a wee look - tricky to get the torsos and heads. Tempted to buy the boxes but I'd hate the waste!
daveboy
Mostly ebay, but ive got an good connection to a bits dealer too! So i bought the melusai box, because i use a lot of the box. But ive bought the heads on ebay. Iam from EU so maybe here its a lilttle bit easier to get, but i dont think so. In USA there are much more Hobbists i would say, just my feeling! silverstu
I got some Melusai bits there - I think the blood bowl parts might be tricky- especially during lockdown but we will see. [I'm in the uk] Might see what else I can use..

elfhead
It’s been a while I was on the hobby part of this forum. I’m glad I looked, because all your stuff is looking great again. The look of a finished paintjob on a finished base is always really nice. I really like you based with the moss. All the new conversions are looking really nice and I’m lovi what you are doing with the wyvern👌🏻

silverstu
Love the new centaur - any chance of a wee group shot? The orc wyvern looks fantastic! Brilliant work ! Wee question about your bases- how do you do the moss effect?
daveboy
Not a real group, but nearly a first row! My primed Orc Warboss An finished Archer And my Wip BSB @silverstu The moss is painted with different greens and doting. I wrote a quick tut on a different forum i'll add it here too. silverstu
Loving the centaurs and the elves- the archer is especially wonderful. The wyvern looks fantastic - the head makes it distinct from dragons and looks so menacing.. Cheers on the moss painting tip, is that grey primer GW or just standard spray can? I use car primers on my models and was thinking of switching to grey over black as I'm using washes and glazes more these days, I was thinking of trying the GW grey but might stick to car primers as they are cheaper! daveboy
i use a technique of priming with two colors. It appears to be grey but it is actually a black base coat which should cover all the models surface and then a white coat from where your light is going to come from. In my case zenithal, from above. This coat shouldnt be covering and you have to be careful not to be to far away from your mini. If you are the paint will dry in the air and the mini surface will be rough. I use GW white and black, imo the best cans out there. Go with the airbrush if you have one.

I had started drying "dusting" white over black- I guess I'll keep at it!

martinwolf
Oh wow, these archers are sooo goooood! I'm so curious which colors you used, it looks all so well balanced. Especially interested in the brown boots recipe and the golden metallic knee pad. Edited August 23, 2021 by martinwolf
