Clan's Cynic
Another Monday, another pair of Specialist Games reveals. I shouldn't complain, but I do wish they'd show off more 40k/AoS models or at least just affirm it's going to be nothing but Specialist models.

Overall they are WAY too efficient for their points. A bit off topic, but I play against Big Waagh Ironjawz almost all the time and I'm not sure if I'm alone in the feeling that they're a very boring subfaction? Maybe not to play, but when playing against them their army's on 2s and 2s all the time - I can still beat them, it just seems a bit dull to have pretty much all attacks hit and wound with very little luck involved. This is Big Waagh rather than Ironjawz (allegiance), so I'm not sure how large the gap is, but the design does seem a bit too blunt even for orks. Was mostly wondering if this was a common perception or just a me issue 😛

Why start a new army when I can use my Slaves to Darkness as a colition force for 2 underpowered Chaos Forces and I will build my first ever 40k army... by cheating and making it a Legion of the First Prince Army. Also the monday model reveal is amazing!https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/11/29/the-only-thing-arriving-with-a-bigger-bang-than-barik-farblasts-bazooka-is-todays-blood-bowl-faq/ This bloke is perfect conversion material for KO!!

We also tend to get most of our reveals in big events so that makes it even less likely to have much revealed in these Monday reveals but I still think we will see AOS and 40k models pop up time to time. I like the simplicity of orruks. They look like they smash face and thats what they do best. I love them for that.

Gaz Taylor
+++ Mod Hat On +++ Right! No more price discussions please! The prices are what they are, there seems to be some decent savings which get better if you have a indie retailer who can do a discount. It’s okay to list the prices as a rumour but that should be it on this topic

Overread
My only price complaint is that the saving should have been 69 for slaanesh Otherwise I'm very tempted by Slaanesh - it's basically two free boxes of stuff for the price in the UK; and its all stuff I need*. I've also a feeling that as basically all of the Slaanesh set is new models (which is a very pleasing surprise) it will sell like crazy when it goes live. Same for Soulblight, I'm really shocked how many new models Gw are putting in this years Christmas bundles. Heck even Ossiarchs aren't that old, *technically I don't need more seekers, but they are such awesome models!

Morglum StormBasha
Lots of rules rumours tonight although I have no idea of original source so no idea if these are accurate or not. kragnos to gain the counts as 20 models rule foxes to lose the move in opponents turn rule pigs up 30 and Krusha 70 as above pink horrors up 40 to 255 All sound good to me if true

Maogrim
Now, what even was the last new AOS miniature previewed before the Maggotkin Sorcerer? Was it Gobsprakk? Or the Dragons? If so, I think the Warhammer community articles that previewed them are from the end of July..

Was mostly wondering if this was a common perception or just a me issue 😛 I think this applies to pretty much every single army if you face it often. It becomes stale and boring. I dont think hitting and wounding on 2s is a bad thing in itself - At the end of the day it translates to consistent damage output, but would it be different if Gore Gruntas had damage 5 but were hitting and wounding on 4s instead? I dont think it would change anything. The thing with Ironjawz is that it is a combat army with literally no shooting output (well 4x damage 1 attacks on the Mawkrusha, woopdedoo), which inherently means there are lot of plays to be had, unlike facing a crazy high ranged output army that can shoot your stuff to bits from 24"+ inches away despite trying to screen/zone your important stuff. I would prefer facing Ironjawz any day over armies like Seraphon/DoK/LRL flinging MWs at you almost boardwide with little to no counterplay or Mega Gargants literally autowinning a game before you even have your first turn if your army doesnt have enough damage.
Carnith
The problem I can see with fighting pure ironjawz is that they are almost guaranteed to murder something when buffed, so much so that they keep stringing combats out. a game I played Saturday had brutes charge skarbrand, kill him, the maw krusha killed a unit, and led to another unit dying before my opponent ever swung. id be fine with in going to like 1 extra combat. That’s where it can get oppressive. Also I run one set of pigs that just end up being an annoyance. 6 pigs with spears should be 180. Pigs with boring choppas? Still 150 IMO.

Was mostly wondering if this was a common perception or just a me issue 😛 Yup, I play Orruks loads and I wouldn't disagree. Competitively it was quite exciting when it first came out (when you were the one playing it), and hitting on 2s wasn't really a thing in the game at the time. I did well with it at events but the main thing was it was really interesting to write lists with - it united big parts of my collection (including Forgeworld) with overlapping buffs, and quality of life was sky high. It felt like writing Chaos lists. I think at this point Big Waaagh has run its course though. There is still some synergy (e.g. the Hand of Gork transports all Orruks), and there's some intrinsic appeal to uniting powerful combat with shooting support, but really it just feels tacked on. If they are determined to run with it, Big Waaagh would make a great home to really unleash Gordrakk / Kragnos / both and give you great reasons to run them. In practice they seem so terrified of unintended consequences that it feels flat and boring. For example Bonesplitterz (Savage Orruks especially) were too efficient in Big Waaagh previously, so in this book they've had the double-whammy of nerfs and points hikes, leaving Bonesplitterz in a bad way to keep Big Waaagh in check. At this point I'd honestly rather bin Big Waaagh entirely and just have the Orruk armies allowed to ally or coalition with one another. We not really care that one engine from last year hasn’t been solved yet. the dominion engines where way better because it actually lead to something in the end Edited November 30, 2021 by novakai
