I think that AoS 4th has the best core rules for an AoS edition. It still has some issues, of course, like any other GW game, but it is vastly improved compared to older editions. I can't believe that we could play this game without a cavalry keyword or basic weapons that do damage to charging units, how's that possible in a Wargame? Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things that are not in line with what I like, but that's another thing to talk about. 4th feels like a good starting point, good core rules but missing some stuff like you said, hopefully they build on it when 5th comes out, in the meantime though I look forward to enjoying 4th

If you aren't going to change the damn rules much when printing a full BT why even risk this level of badwill https://www.warhammer-community.com/warhammer-age-of-sigmar-downloads/ I think they mentioned this or I guessed it from the same behaviour on 40k, but anyway... yeah... better download them all now that you can.

You can see the ones without the battletomes out and make multiple lists, but anything with battletome even as a subscriber you are locked out. You are basically paying to make more than one list.
TechnoVampire
It’s actually insane that a £5.99/ month subscription to the app only unlocks the ability to create new lists and not the entire app.

You can still download V3 battlescrolls using warco articles (and probably other files too) And using wayback, you can even find V2 files (and maybe V1)
Big Kim Woof-Woof
The sheer stubbornness of GW is becoming risible. We've been publishing army books like this for forty years now, we're not changing that for anyone! The thing is, they could be making more money from me if they were prepared to try something different. A big coffee-table-style-book of my faction's lore and art? Take my money! And then they could still be milking me for rules money by making them available to buy digitally. But, no... they're going to stick with this backwards neither-fish-nor-fowl compulsory battletome shtick that they've been plugging away at forever now. 9

As a Lore and Miniature enthusiast I would devour art andnlore books even of armies I don’t collect! TechnoVampire
I think knowing this is the trajectory of GW we as a community have to pull together to create and share resources that allow us to play the game at a reasonable price. Buying a disposable £37 book every 3 years and paying £5.99/ month (£71.88 each year) just to conveniently access our rules and create lists is not the answer. Lavieth
18 hours ago, AquaRegis said: 100%. I'm not particularly enthusiastic about 4th edition AOS's rules and have dropped 10th Ed 40k for the same reason. I'm willing to give it a chance to see how it develops going forward with the next few battletomes, and where the narratives go, but I'm slowly just moving back to the Old World. The IP is what's holding GW together (mostly 40k). The attitude towards 10th edition from the majority of players, including big 40k YouTube channels is that it's not a particularly good edition and has a lot of poorly implemented features (set squad sizes and free equipment). Despite that, it's still by far the most popular game system and 40k tournaments frequently sell out quickly. This is exactly where I am, too. Tenth edition 40K has left me feeling very disenchanted. I keep searching for the fun in the games when I do play them, but the current state of the rules has left the game in a state where is feels boring and simply not fun. We are in the middle of making a home-brew rules expansion to see if we can take that bland game and add some flavor to it. I've only played a handful of fourth edition AoS games and currently it's leaving with a familiar sense of deja vu. Between the tactics cards and battle tactics, I sometimes feel like I'm no longer playing a miniatures war game. Sometimes I feel like they don't make sense to what my armies want to do, but I need to do them to score points to try and "win". But, in doing that as a gamer I feel like a loser. My armies have lost some of their identity. I think if the next few battletomes that come out feel the same, I'll probably just home-brew some more expansions so my friends and I can enjoy ourselves. The Old World, on the other hand, really does have a lot of pull and charm to it. The rules are good. I feel engaged in the game amd it feels like a miniatures wargame. They game flow isn't being disrupted by silly objectives. I couldn't agree more that it feels like the IP is what's holding 40K together at the moment and it looks like it could be happen to AoS, too. Other than not having the chance to meet new people, I'm very thankful my group of gaming friends are open to ammendments to the rules so we can all have afternoons/evenings of fun and laughter.
