The Rumour Thread

Yes , probably it is not a fair comparison but apparently Whitefang discard the snarlfang chariot and at this point a gitmob armybox could contain:

1/2 new hero/s on snarlfang

2 existing units of snarfangs w/ upgrade sprue

1 war machine???

Or we are just focusing Gitmob too much on what they had in WHFB and what it has in the army box just blown our mind.

I think we will see this box in January, during LVO.

Maybe it's just 1 hero. Not a fan, but that's the usual approach to a new release: battletome + 1 hero. Unless there are more rumour that I'm not aware off.

Not a rumour, they mentioned in the roadmaps post an army box. It could be that our fantasies about a Gitmob army box are totally wrong in the end, but it would be weird to have an army box with existing stuff and just one hero.

No , the AoS roadmap article states : “ an army box and individual releases for the Gloomspite Gitz.“

The question is if armybox is intended to be all brand new miniatures or a mix of new and existing.

Whitefang hinted in past months/year a gitmob release but recently discarded the snarfang chariot speculation.

We are almost sure that a snarlfang hero is coming.

I think you're getting your reacts mixed up. The sad reaction to this post wasn't from Whitefang.Screenshot_20241018-173035.png.8913a08dea87283053cfa765581d6a7e.png

They laughed which they clarified ages ago meant not a direct confirmation but something good is coming. (Or they're just laughing ) So maybe we'll see something chariotesque.

Laugh react = happy react, because WF smiles and is happy because of the lovely miniatures that are on the horizon ! So if his reaction is the 😄, he just confirmed GSG wolf chariots.

I will only accept a chariot pulled by spiders or Troggoths

IMO it is just a poor wording choice.

I think this is the case as well. Although...

With Stormcast, Skaven and Slaves out this year, that leaves 20 Battletomes outstanding. If they were to pump out the equivalent of 2 Battletomes per month for 10 months of 2025, that would be all the Battletomes released (for current factions) by the end of 2025. They could even aim for 18 months to mid-2026.

I thought Dawnbringers was decent, but it felt very rushed. With the last book dropping just a couple of weeks before Skaventide, there was hardly any time for the narrative to breathe, and this must have affected sales.

Who knows what lessons have been learned and what (if any) new directions will be taken, but if GW plans on another Narrative series to "lead into" 5th edition, I can see them wanting to shift it forward six months. Battletomes across 2025 and the first half of 2026, with a Narrative series beginning in the summer of 2026 and having a full year before the next edition drops makes a lot of sense.

It gives people more time with their respective Battletomes, more time for potential narrative events and associated releases and more time for the lead-up to 5th. It makes a lot of sense. It could also mean that factions get a release (From a single hero to multiple kits) with their Battletome and some love during the narrative.

But the downside of this is that most of the tomes could be out, but then it could be as @Tonhel thinks and we could just get a "printed version" of the indexes. So I don't know what I would prefer, if they drop them off early or go the usual way.

That's true. Although, I can't help but feel (and hope) that this is a step in the journey towards having fully digital rules. Putting aside the app/ battletome/ paywall nonsense for a moment. The Battlepacks released for all factions at the beginning of 4th are pretty damned good IMO. They are Battletomes minus the lore. In the case of SCE and Skaven the Battletomes are basically physical prints +lore of their existing Battlepacks. It feels to me that 4th is in this weird half-way spot of transitioning from the old Battletome/Codex format to going fully digital (In a typical, drawn-out, inch-by-inch, GW way)

Grom the Paunch in AoS? (who has a potbelly for the rumour. hmmm....)

I've been excitedly waggling limbs at a Grom revamp (or spiritual successor), but had taken Whitefang's chariot laugh to mean "no", where others suggest this is positive 😅. Ahh, the wiles and whims of Whitefang reactions.

On the pot-belly front, @zamerionsuggested this is a plaguebearer carrying a book for Warhammer Underworlds who has a literal pot in it's tummy.

BUT! We do have a written response from Whitefang challenging mention of Gitmob grots being able to fit into small spaces, so we can't count out a grom gut 😁

Grotbag Scutllers to me never sounded like an army they would do official kits for. More like it was made to give hobbyists ideas for conversions and proxy it all as KO.

Why not?

I mean, you can't even play like Grotbags Scuttlers are described in the books using Kharadron miniatures and rules: they don't have small ships (no-gunhauler), they don't have ranged specialists (no thunderers), they don't have balloonboys (no Skyriggers),...

Kharadrons doesn't have rules to support Doom-diver war machines (teleports), melee horde troops, kamikaze rules and ships so big as an Ironclad attached to 2 Mawcrushas.

Unless you ignore the whole reason to play Grotbag Scuttlers, you can only play KOs with goblin heads and ships with Squigs.

Yes , it is definitely poor wording in a poor roadmap : no way they are going to release 21 Battletomes in 2025.

I believe they will follow the same pattern and we will get around 10 battletomes in 2025 : some with size release ( i.e. Gloomspite and Soulblight) , some big release ( Chorfs) , some with foot hero .

Gitmob mounted Hero Priest
Gitmob Elite "Cavalry"
Gitmob Bodyguard
Gitmob Centerpiece

@Whitefang

Is this a wishlist, a guess or a rumour?

For me I'd like to see a somewhat elite infantry unit, a couple of heroes, a chariot or larger monster with multiple builds in the style of the big pig and the rumoured armoured troggoths.

I think it'd be fair to judge what's coming for Gitmob on what came from WHFB, they have had good success recently reimagining old units in the AOS style, so I would expect some remakes and then a variation to make something new (like how fanatics and squig hoppers were redone but also came with a variant new unit).

Will be interesting to see what they come up with.

Purely speculating, but I could see:

  • New unique character
  • Mounted melee hero
  • Foot shaman
  • Infantry with spears/hand weapon and shield
  • Wolf Chariot

The named character would be released separately, and the rest of the contents in the army box with 2 lots of the infantry to flesh it out.

Then some kind of Warcry or WHU unit like the Nasty Skulkers will get released.

They are trying to avoid that two unts have the same role in the army.
