I personally would rather Gnoblars be done away with but if theyre going to get a makeover Im more than happy to see it!!

But why?Gnoblars were always a nice part of the lore as the Ogres even "personalizes them" as "sort of pets"....i agree on making them more different from classic goblins\grots but eliminating them it would be a waste imho.

As someone who's played ogres since they were released in WHFB, I would welcome them jettisoning the gnoblars, if I wanted to paint a bunch of tiny goblins, I'd play the goblin faction.  I've never painted a unit of them, and I never will, I do not care how many games that makes me lose without screening pieces!

That said, keeping them around as funny little base decoration guys and attendants for larger models works fine.

I must say that, even if KOs have so little number of untis and basically, all heroes can be "officials", I'm enjoying the list-building process. I still want to have a lot more customization options (more artifacts, traits, mount traits, etc...) but appart from that, it feels refreshing.

KO do come out well with the regiment system. It’s cool and thematic and characterful but not every army seems to have the stock of ‘lesser’ specialist/lieutenant heroes to make it work well. Forces like KO, Khorne and FEC suit it.

I have a suspicion that Gnoblers won't go away entirely simply because they added 'humans' to accompany the newer Stormcast to highlight how large they are. I wouldn't be surprised if they took the same approach to any new Ogors, even if they're just base/token accessories rather than full units.

I'd probably keep gnoblars, but purely as tokens like SCE have done with their Reclusians etc. that way you keep the lore aspect of them, but do away with the need to paint huge units of them.

I really don't understand the Gnoblar hate going on. I also started ogres when they first came out and they were my first fantasy army, and I really like the little guys. They've always been thoroughly integrated into the faction lore-wise not to mention pretty important mechanically for a faction that's largely comprised of extremely expensive monsters running around. Sure they need a glow up model wise, but that's true for pretty much the whole Ogre line. Why strip out such a historic and important component of the faction? If you want to play something with absolutely no little models you have Sons.

Wouldn't surprise me if they are base decorations, like the gargolians. It seems to be a new trend that GW likes to push lately, little companions.

While I agree I would love for them to stay around, the reason I could imagine for them to disappear is to split the faction from their WHFB equivalent. They are such an iconic bit that getting rid of them would be a big differentiating factor.

Lizardmen still got skinks though...they don't Need to differentate for Tow as they are'nt a focus army.

I don't think in this particular case they serve the same purpose in both armies. They are just the smaller mini.

It's a minor gripe but I really dislike the direction of "miniature as tokens". I don't like having to pay and paint stuff which literally does not exist on the tabletop -with the added negative of being actively confusing (oh my charge distance is longer because these are not actual models? Oh I thought you had X models on the objective, and so on).

I'd agree with that. Seems damn silly. My Blissbarb Archers have operated perfectly well with their Homonculus tagging along. Suddenly there's fiddly extra bookkeeping involved, and no real benefit.

I get your point, as I collector I like them as they add variety and there are some cool fun flavourful ones like the Fusiliers ammunition guy:

Freeguild Fusiliers

But I was talking about stuff like the little nurglings, gargolians or even the little thingies that you can find around Brodd's mini:

King Brodd

I much prefer the SoB Creepers to Gnoblars. The Creepers and Gargants symbiosis is endearing, while Gnoblars in the World that Was were just slaves and in the realms they're just used for unpleasant jobs and as a food source in case of emergency by Ogors.

I prefer it tbh. It was always fiddly to have these pointless extra profiles associated with a unit whether in 40k or WHFB/AoS. Less of an issue in more recent editions, admittedly, but this token approach is less clunky and really quite easy to remember. They ‘exist’ in the same fashion as terrain on bases or WHFB unit fillers or objectives, i.e. just fine when understood as unit-adjacent.

not sure I undestand correctly, but I would disagree on these examples. A "unit filler" is still part of the unit, it just replaces one or more models but if you make contact with it you have charged the unit and it would count for capturing objectives etc. Objectives also have a "physical" presence, in the sense that you measure from them. None of this applies to the miniatures-tokens: rules wise they do not have a physical presence on the table (to the point that I would rather see them replaced with actual tokens for clarity)

On this I fully agree.

IMHO probably first in a line of teasers for the new Agents of the Imperium Codex.

Or the DRAKUS FEROCITOR is the new plastic Krieg release, although that's rumoured for later (which is 100% coming because we have a RE with a transfer from the Krieg transfer sheet).

They directly refer to a "Tempestor Magnificant" who is in charge of them so its Tempestus Scions.
