Didn't they launch recently a new series about the War of the Rohirrim? Also, I wonder if they will take this opportunity to scale up a bit the models.

It’s launching soon, but it’s a (anime) film rather than series, yea it will be interesting to see where they go with the miniatures, and whether the new launch box will be including this new theme or not

I am 100000% picking these up!! I love MESBG and its the only system that I actually play. Those minis are beautiful especially the Trolls and finally WEREWOLVES!!

The Hill Trolls being smarter and basically a Cave Troll that knows to wear protective clothing is genius.

I love the aesthetic of the AOS Troggoth but when I think Troll I always picture LOTR.

It's their best ruleset. 

When they blew up Warhammer, there were rumours that the new game would be based on the MESBG ruleset... The shock was big when they came out with the 4 page pamflet.😂

More LOTR new edition! Thank fully that puts the rumours of LOTR ending to bed! War of Rohirrim looks super exciting must be a tie in to the new anime film 

Not sure how I feel about this. 

MESBG is a great ruleset as it is (arguably the best) and has been a round for a long time. 

However given how GW have "updated" 40k and AOS I'm apprehensive at what they are going to do to MESBG. The rules don't really need changing, and I'm really hoping that it's just more balanced unit profiles, siege rules etc. 

 

That being said the team working on MESBG have been very consistent in doing a good job.

I'm fairly confident it's mostly going to be consolidations/minor changes as Pelenor fields was before it. The same guys who write MESBG also do other specialists games so I doubt they've got time for comprehensive rewrites 😁

The rules have changed that much from initial to hobbit to middle earth. So I doubt there are going to be massive changes here. Incorporate errata, some minor touch ups, etc.

Totally agree with this. Most of the changes will be around what’s in the armies and it will be used for a range refresh or repackage

Resin. Only the centrepiece foot heroes are in plastic these days.

The chieftain might just possibly be plastic as he's a remake of a model which already exists in resin and isn't that different. I'd be very surprised if the others are.

 

While I don't think the game needs a new edition this is hugely exciting because with all the rights issues I'd been afraid that the middle earth range might have been on it's last legs. This suggests it will continue, which is excellent news!

The new hill troll models are amazing.

new edition is interesting - it’s been six years and I’ll be happy for them to swap some of the matched play missions out for some new ones.

but I don’t really want the core rules touched. And probably only about 10 percent of the units could do with a points adjustment or a rules adjustment.

but the rules writer is still the same as last edition and still one of the best players in the world so I have trust

As @Chikout mentioned, it's most likely resin. If they're not in a Starter Set then they get made by Forgeworld. The Arnor  and orc models announced recently have all been confirmed as Resin too. They're usually pretty expensive but recent Forgeworld have gotten better (it's not the FW of old for sure) 😁

This. There's hope that they don't ****** it up with the new. 

More people should play it and the narrative scenarios are so well balanced. Really love the game, don't play it anywhere near as often as I should.

A few years ago, the Embracer group had one goal: "To become the largest entertainment group." Among many things, it acquired two things that made MESBG tremble:

- Asmodee: the largest board game company, with successful miniature games such as Marvel Crisis Protocol or Star Wars Legion.

- The rights to Middle-Earth.

 

Everything seemed to indicate that the renewal was going to be impossible, but something happened at the last minute. When Embracer was about to start operating at full capacity, the Middle Eastern investment fund decided to withdraw at the last minute, and with it, the rest of the investors. Embracer collapsed, began to be sold or divided into different new companies...

And so we are today, with the rights being able to be negotiated again. Showing a powerful new edition along the way

Embraced is desperate for easy cash. Granting rights is a risk free way of doing that. 
Anyway 33 hours is to go until the Skaven reveal and still no leaks. Has gw actually managed to keep a reveal secret for once?

Depends what leaks you want.

Know the unit names which already tell us roughly what to expect from the models? We already have those for a few months now.
Actual model leaks? We got that Skaven Engineer.
Just full on painted examples of all the models? Yes, we didn't get that yet but that happens very rarely.

Now if tomorrows reveal would have been Stormcast that would be true, I think the only teaser we have are from stories? 

I remember new animal companions like Aetherwings for the Ruination chamber and that Lord-Relictors are now part of the Ruination chamber which would mean a new model makes sense but I think thats it.
