I think that Spiderfang will stay, but centered in Big Monsters or Big Cavalry (Nurgle's flies or Stormdrakes) with the style of Blanche's Gloomspite. Grots with spider limbs and wearing black clothes like Moonclan.

I hope they will ! I loved that Blanche artwork . They only need to upgrade one sprue on araknarok kit isn’t it ?

I'm not gonna say anything about Spiderfang staying, because I was very vehement about BOC and Bonesplitterz staying and look what happened. My word might be cursed and I don't want Spiderfang to be impacted by it.

I too, would like for Spiderfang to be reimagined into something more than just "Native American gobbos with spiders". Something darker would be nice. GSG already has a theme of being the lurkers of the damp and dark places, where spiders like to live, so there's an obvious connection. I feel like at least, they'll always be creepy crawlies in GSG no matter what.

I am pretty sure that Spiderfang suffered something like Azyr's cult and It was designed at the beginning (by Blanche) but was delayed and delayed for other options or armies. But I am pretty confident that they will stay.

I am part of those that think Spiderfang will be replaced by Gitmob. I hope I am wrong.

it will be disappointing if we already have snarlfangs cav in the box

I think the problem with spiderfang might be arachnophobia. The current models are cartoony enough that they don’t trigger my phobia, but with modern techniques, they could absolutely make something that would. Arachnophobia is one of the most common phobias. I wonder if gw thinks gitmob is a safer design space to pursue.

I don't think spiders aren't out of the design space

also have to mention that the Spiderfangs do get a mention in the new Skaven battletome them fighting a Plague Priest whom they were going to sacrifice him to Big Spider. Not that any indication of them getting new models but i don't think they're going to be forgotten

These all kind of illustrate my point though. They are all spider adjacent rather than actual spiders., especially the tyranid. The smaller spiders in the Warcry are still pretty cartoony. Maybe Spiderfang will move to a less realistic interpretation of spiders. That said it’s all just a theory. I’m just speculating as to why gw is adding a new aesthetic to Gloomspite before developing an older one.

If Games Workshop decided to revive The Old World it should keep TOW and AoS apart as much as possible to prevent one from cannibalising the other.

The whole gitmob design as we know it is something I would put in generic fantasy category, something that could easily be put in most fantasy settings.

Definitely can't say the same thing about Squigs. They are over the top, too crazy for LoTR, too crazy for GoT. Goblins riding big spiders? Perhaps. But Goblin and spider hybrids like the guy in Gobbapalooza? That's something unique. There are many possibilities to AoSify Spiderfang.

My point is gitmob really should stay in TOW. What's the point of blurring the boundaries between the two? GW already made their point of in which direction both develop.

TOW: classic dwarfs, classic orkz, classic wood and high elves, united chaos

AoS: flying steampunk and fire obsessed dwarfs, swamp orkz riding vultures and crocodiles, elf and tree hybrids riding beetles, cow elves, sea elves, skaven and god factions

Keep them apart.

In fact, Wow recently added an option that replace them with other models. I wouldn't ever imagine that a company would give that phobia such a big importance, so maybe you are right a GW end removing them because of that.

I think Gitmob will fall in Whitefang wierd file library . They have discontinued in 2019 when new Gloomspite gitz big release dropped . Then 2 years ago Snarlfangs have been realesed out of blue and apparently out of place . Now we know at the beginning of 2025 a new git mob release is on the way including new itineration of doom diver !!

We should consider that AoS has a full main studio behind while ToW only a team within the specialist studio : so the AoS studio has the resources to “ update” Gitmob.

AoS is the main fantasy game while ToW is mainly nostalgia project for whfb veterans : so I don’t see risk of cannibalism.

If the upcoming Gitmob I'd an update on the common goblin theme with infantry, chariots and war machines you can bet I'll be making a goblin army in TOW with them.

I don't think GW worry about splitting sales between the 2 games as long as the product sells.

I've never bought the whole AoS vs TOW studios fighting for resources.

I'm of two minds about a Gitmob release, on one hand it's cool that Gloomspite is getting a possibly decent sized new wave but on the other hand I would've preferred that Spiderfang get the big new release/refresh wave treatment. Largely because I just find the concept of spider riding/husbandry to be far more interesting than wolf riding and whatever else the Gitmob have going on, for me personally the Gitmob just feel a bit mundane in comparison.

I'll reserve judgement until we actually see what the wave entails but I'm not overly excited at this stage, though it's at least nice that the doom diver catapult is looking to make a reappearance, I've always had a soft spot for it.

The other way around. Both games are set in the same universe, and there are quite a few armies that share aesthetic in some way, so the more minis for both games the best for both, as they can be shared up to he player's desires.

A direct quote from the 2023-24 GW annual report.

"In January we expanded our fantasy offer with the return of Warhammer: The Old World (first launched in the 1980s). Sales suggest that it is appealing to both new and veteran hobbyists alike."

I'm waiting for them since the first edition, they are such a missed opportunity, a simple but effective and unique concept.

Hope they will come back soon, expanded, for Gloomspite etc.

Theres so many directions into High Fantasy GW can take AOS. I just want them to differentiate the AOS and WHFB sculpts such as Gloomspite, Ogors even Fyreslayers.

i love the recent wolf riders, but yeah, I agree with those who feel they're out of place in gloomspite & would have preferred more night gablins, or more scuttling type blends of night goblins & spider goblins.  night goblins, squiggs, & trolls all sort of fit together as a subterranian/cave dwelling type faction with a whimsical, fairly tale aesthetic.  the spider stuff fits well enough into that, especially the night goblinesqie scuttlings.

The gitmob with their more grounded khanish aesthetic, much as i do really like the models, just feel like an entirely different faction.  It's like ironjaws & kruulboys - they may both be orcs, but they're such radically different takes on orcs that they hardly feel like they belong in the same game, let alone the same army.

Maybe it is just a mater of us getting used to seeing that kind of tomes that puts together more than one faction and Gitmob is just another faction inside the GSG book. In the same way that it is rumoured Malerion will join DoK or Tyrion will join LRL.

I think it’s nearly impossible for GW to track the age and the “ experience “ of the customers, unless they start to ask ID to customers and to fill a form before purchase .
It seems imho more like a “good statement” for an investor relationship .

Snarlfangs has been probably very well received that AoS studio decided to expand the Gitmob range.

Ah the old "I don't agree with that so I will just discount it and go with what I feel is the case"

Games Workshop has over 750,000 Warhammer Plus accounts, showing purchase history, Date of Birth, and registration time. The majority of Old Worlds releases are Online-Only.

This is a publicly traded company. They can't just BS on their financial reports, as that is literally illegal. Given the information they do have (which is significantly more than you), this is their conclusion.

I think I'll take their word on this one...

SoulBlight is already like this. The Vyrkos Eastern European aesthetic doesn’t match well with some of the other vampires in the range. Kinda like a book within a book, maybe Orruk Warclans were ahead of their time and we’ll see more of it. The guy that is designing Gitmob also designed Kruleboyz

Well they didn't say that 'Our customer analytics data suggests that it is appealing to both new and veteran hobbyists alike' did they? They only cited their sales data. That can be read in a few different ways but the first thing I thought was 'sales were bigger than we projected for just the nostalgia market, so we think the game is also appealing to people who didn't play before'. They're still a big company with an effective business department so it might be worth taking them at their word on that, but if they had clear analytic evidence that on their customer base then I think they would have said it instead of being as vague as they were.

GW never goes into specifics about their sales. We know the total amount of their core revenue, but how much is from 40K, AoS, Heresy, TOW or ... is a mystery.

For 40K they posted in the financial report that it is still going strong. We have no idea how strong, strong means. For TOW they have chosen to add "In January we expanded our fantasy offer with the return of Warhammer: The Old World (first launched in the 1980s). Sales suggest that it is appealing to both new and veteran hobbyists alike. As with everything we do, we have grand plans for the years ahead. " line.

They could wrote that sale numbers are suggesting that especially veteran hobbyists are attracted to it, but instead it was both new and veteran hobbyists. So it seems more plausible to assume that this is indeed what happened. It feels more unlogical to say that GW is mistaken and that TOW only sells to veteran hobbyists

It's perfect possible that X percentage of new or young players are attracted to a more mass ranked fantasy game system with a deeper customization instead of a hybrid skirmish game. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

It seems that GW finally realized that offering both game types equals more profit.
