JPjr
It only feels like a few weeks since I received my last crushing rejection from The Black Library (mainly because it was) but it looks like they're opening up a new submissions window and this time they're focusing on horror stories. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/08/19/we-want-your-tales-of-darkness/ So... once more unto the breach dear friends, we have nothing to fear except fear itself (and feeling like utter ****** after our nonsense scribblings get filed in the bin).
shinros
Right, got a story in vault time to spruce it up! Good luck everyone!
Baron Klatz
Oh ho, your stories are really good so that's gonna be a great entry. Best of luck. Anyway, bump/reminder to anyone that this begins on October 19th and ends on the 31st for Halloween. For myself I just can't commit to full stories. I like doing lore snippets and very short stories instead. I do like the article mentioned stuff like corrupted Sylvaneth, I did a few short horror blurbs for a friend's blog some years back based on that. http://objectivesecured.blogspot.com/2017/04/bog-sylvaneth-tainted.html?m=1 http://objectivesecured.blogspot.com/2017/07/bog-dryads-more-shamblings-branchbitch.html?m=1 Also for some possible inspiration this was a good short horror vid someone could use for inspiration: As most AoS commissions will likely focus on the realms of death, life and beasts this could be used for a realm of light horror. Perhaps either the realm itself trying to balance out an evil act to much unnatural consequence or a unforeseen element from the magic of Illiatha nation. Baron Klatz
Ding! Dong! Ding! Dong! A warning bell tolls for thee on the 13th. Only one week left until submissions go live on the 19th. For dark inspirations for your tales go check out the grim works of AoS28. https://www.exprofundis.com/introducing-aos28-inq28-meets-age-sigmar/ https://www.exprofundis.com/gallery/ https://www.exprofundis.com/lord-black-sloth-hell/ http://gardensofhecate.blogspot.com/2018/06/clxxvii-stormcast-questor-and-penitent.html?m=1 A bit off-topic but they also have a update to Hinterlands, the AoS Skirmish game the Warcry dev made before joining GW. https://www.exprofundis.com/aos28-expanded-hinterlands-rules/ Could be useful though if you need a quick bloody battle to decide the outcome of your tale. Oh, but they don't. I don't think I've ever been able to find the rules set since the author took it down.

Baron Klatz
Once more onto the scholarly breach! "This time we want all aspiring authors to immerse themselves in the newest Mortal Realms lore and pen original, gripping tales taking place in the time of the Dawnbringer Crusades. As brave Freeguilds answer the Crusader’s Bell and take up the sword, will you take up the scribe’s quill? If you want to submit an idea in this window, all you have to do is send us a 50-word summary of your proposed short story, along with a 500-word writing sample. " https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/09/29/become-a-published-warhammer-author-with-black-librarys-open-submissions/ I'm interested in the stories that'll come from this part. "What do Bloodbound hosts or the deathless minions of Nagash make of these titanic migrations and the upheaval they bring? Are the orruk warclans – newly bolstered by kunnin’ Kruleboyz – delighted by the prospect of the fighting coming to them for a change? Deepkin
Looking forward to submitting. Made it decently far last year, but story was ultimately rejected in one of the later stages. They said they liked my prose and characterization a lot though, so hoping I can convince em this year. 1

Public Universal Duardin
Reminder that the submission window is open until Nov 9th 😉 I don't expect anything but a rejection, but one has to at least try, right?

Writing and publishing are related, but separate, activities! So long as you enjoy the writing in itself, you've done good.

Although I assume everyone who loves to write also daydreams of seeing their writing published - I know I do 😂 Regardless, I truly wish good luck to everyone - hopefully someone from here gets that elusive chance to showcase their talent!
