The Lost Sigmarite
Just saying, if I ever get into TOW, it would be with a Royal Clan Dwarf army… the fact you can use the more modern 8th edition dwarf kits has the core of the army, instead of the older warriors, is a huge pull for me.

But even with that... they are starting to show their age. I was tempted to buy some Irondrakes in with the TOW box to get them discounted for AoS... but the more I look at them the more I see the age. I understand it and I would have loved another new plastic set that would give me another dwarf unit, but for a unit in a mass ranked battlegame which has its height restrictments, how much more detailed / updated should it be? The quality of the longbeards/hammer set is for me more than enough for heroic 28mm mini's, certainly when used ranked up. For AoS if they do new duardin they can push it a bit more with dynamic poses and etc.. but for TOW these 8 edition dwarf sets are good enough for a very long time. Imo ofcourse😅

I guess that I see them now from the AoS eyes, hehe and as it is said here, Comparisons are odious.

Still better than 80% of the market of plastic minis, both fantasy, sci-fi and historical. We’re too used to AoS/40k giving us fantastic minis with great plastic and modern 3D sculpting that we can’t appreciate fantastic 10 y/o minis that age very well. Basically GW has spoon fed us caviar and champagne for so long that when they give us lobster or filet mignon, we make funny faces and say “they do better most of the time”. Also it’s rank and flank, individual details don’t matter *as much*.

TaeRam
In my case, I refuse to buy any miniature that is not 8th edition or later. The 8th ones seem perfect to me.
FFJump
I'm personally ecstatic that with Old World they're going with a mish-mash of models from all editions including rules. I started with Battle for Skull Pass so having the opportunity to purchase models that drew me in but were already non-existent from the time I started playing at non-ebay prices is incredible. I personally don't equate age with quality. I prefer some of the older models to even newer AoS or 8th stuff, it really depends on the model. Like I love the 8th Irondrakes and Ironbreakers, but I wish the old metal Longbeards had been brought back because they have a charm to them that the newer ones are missing. Outside of that though, I'm definitely picking up everything on Saturday (assuming it doesn't sell out in 5 seconds). It definitely helps sell the idea of Old World as being a love letter to Fantasy as a whole to be able to create an army with a range of models from different points in GW's history.
Clan's Cynic
Lore article for the Dwarfs, the main takeaway being the three special characters featured are Ungrim (which we knew), young Thorgrim Grudgebearer Ulleksson and the Engineer Burlock Damminson.

Clan's Cynic
I think with The Old World being a Specialist Game they'll definitely get models eventually, but just sort of appear randomly over the next year ALA Necromunda, Blood Bowl, older Heresy profiles, etc rather than being strictly tied to "Rules = Model from Day 1" like 40k and AoS. Considering every new resin goes up and then sells out for months at a time I have to imagine they're making decent money off producing them. Probably not coming soon since they need to get all the armies out, but based on previous Forge World art (i.e.: artwork that appeared in Necromunda books before the minis were revealed), this should give us a pretty good idea about how they will look like. I won't expect any new model until they release all the core factions, so easily after 1 year. The only exception I can see is something for O&G, as they were treated quite bad. Wow, you are totally right. I mean, does this phrase "both of the weapons the new MODEL is carrying..." have any other meaning? Crossing fingers for metal longbeards and Drong's pirates too!!
