Urauloth
Do you think we'll see chaos warriors get their weapon profiles merged like gutrippas did? I have 10 with swords, 5 knights and a lord on foot... if they merge the sword and halberd profiles all I need for the Spearhead is a chariot. Guess we'll see. All my Chaos Warriors are the older style ones, and I've armed them with paired hand weapons (it felt more Slaaneshy!) It'd be nice to not have to "counts as" them. Yeah for sure, I think they have done that universally for this type of unit so would be very surprising if not
Big Kim Woof-Woof
Have any of the Warscrolls previewed thus far featured troops that have specific rules for shields? Or are shields now purely decorative?

Think they tie in a bit, eg expect ardboyz to have some shieldbash ability, but the composition how u build will be decorative with no impact on the profile, except some specialist elite units like the skaven stormfiends (although wysiwyg isnt really a thing in this game so probably wont matter much how even those are built)

In the DoK preview they still had a rule for Bladed Bucklers, and I suppose Cities kept their Fortified Position rules on their bigs shield units, but as far as I can tell for alternate assembles that can take shields they no longer do anything.

They are trying to streamline that kind of stuff.
The Lost Sigmarite
I’m weirdly intrigued why they didn’t release briar & bone and the TOW dwarfs before AoS4 launches - I would’ve sworn they would try to “get rid” of these releases before AoS4.

It's hard to say if this is realistic, but they might have postponed production on these kits a bit in order to get all the Vermindoom boxes ready for launch.
The Lost Sigmarite
I hope it releases soon because of this : when briar & bone comes out, Death will become the 1st grand alliance to have a Warcry band for each of its factions.

Yeah anything else would be crazy imo, and if they don't reveal a spearhead for IJ now, I would def put my money ob that Battletome being the first out of the gate after Skaven/SCE and be accompanied by a new spearhead box

Warbands are always the scouts/vagabonds/cultists/specialists of their faction, it would be interesting to see this with IJ given their reputation of being not very subtle. Rachmani
I hope it's formed around ardboys, some wreckas or the other ones from the same kit and a big pick... . or an ardboys boss and something else. a shaman maybe. I'd buy that one in an instant.
Gitzdee
I acutally hope for a more shamanistic/ voodoo/ wereboar style ironjawz for a Warcry warband. Dont want to see any of the existing type of units to be honest. And please no more apes XD.
woolf
Guys, what would you say are the different play styles that exist in the game? Probably people have already thought about this but I would find it quite interesting if we could pin down in a fairly crisp way what the different routes to victory are - that would then provide a framework for 1) placing different armies (or perhaps more accurately build) into and 2) discuss what composition is best to excel in a certain style, what components are needed and should be optimised for etc Figured an open brainstorming type question could be a place to start! Cheers

Cheers Yes, absolutely. The Ossiarchs play slow and “honest”- Lots of buffs and some debuffs, but ultimately the majority of their strength comes from just having efficient stats. They will kill you but they’re not going to be using MWs to do it, just Rend, and if they’re piloted well, they’re almost always going to be trading up in value. woolf
Oumph, some massive casting bonuses in that article! @MitGas looks like you will still only be second best when it comes to spell slinging!
woolf
Do wonder if the new version of endless spells that can engage units will be a bit problematic with this army, it will kinda be like an endless recursion of spell units that pop up every turn (including opponent turn)

I guess the writers at GW don‘t have the mental capacity to understand that the forces of the actual god of magic(!) (don’t you dare, I know what you‘re thinking, woolf) should be the best at it but it‘s alright. I‘m used to it at this point - we all know that lizards being OP is part of AoS‘s core identity. 🤭 If they at least gave us better CC capabilities in return - back when I started, Tzeentchian Lords weren‘t just lvl 4 wizards, they could also tear you to shreds in combat. And that‘s how it should be! 😇
