Thundercake
Looks ace as always! I can't help feeling that the shrine is missing something. A big wolf skull (maybe a terrorgheist head and green stuff) or some sort of other skull, or a carved stone/brass wolf on it.
Uveron
I love the WarShrine! Such a good Idear!
Bueno
Here's the finished warshrine, @Thundercake do you think the banner is enough or still needs something more? In all honesty its a bit rushed, and i'm not overly happy with how it turned out. But i found myself struggling for motivation, a new project is definitely needed so i'm going to put this army on hold now, though i hope to come back and add the skull cannons, giants and one day a warmammoth! Next i'll be starting the Gryphon Legions, my take on Stormcast. Edited January 30, 2018 by Bueno
Ulgzhakar
Really enjoyed this thread. Amazing work throughout. I agree the shrine could use more contrast and embellishment up front, like a large skull. Or a couple guys waving spears. But it's still amazing as it stands.

Thanks, I think I will end up revisiting the warshrine to improve, but for now just need a break. Hopefully will be more motivated when looking at it fresh eyes in the future
Thundercake
I think it looks better from the front. A side shot would help me decide how I feel. I think it is something to do with the boxy lines on the front half. However, the whole project is amazing and you should be stoked to get it to this point! I think if you go on to something else then come back to it, you'll get the inspiration to make it how you want it.
Bueno
So I’ve moved onto my stormcast (though I am also working on a couple of chariots for the Wolfs that I forgot about) and need some advice on how to proceed with my liberators. I’ve converted up a unit of 10 from the starter set to have the double sword option, I’ve gone for a mix of flaming swords and “normal” swords. The paint scheme on these is going to be fairly simple but lighting is going to be a key feature hence the idea for flaming swords. I’m not sure how well it works with the mix of swords though, does it work? If not should I source more flaming swords and have them all on fire? Or go the other way and have all normal swords? 4 1
Rungi
Seems like the key to mixing flaming/normal swords is to make sure the flames are on the swords being swung and not the swords at rest. Beyond that it's really hard to say if it's working without seeing the paint, and as you said, the lighting effect. Love the idea though and based on your other models, I'd guess it's going to turn out great. The head swaps give you a chance to add a very grim, human angle to these warriors who are sometimes depicted as superhero-esque. A darker, more gritty look could balance well with the occasional magically flaming sword. Can't wait to see where this goes!
Kramer
I think go flames for the ones in motion and normal for the ones that are roughly still but paint them as if they are at the point of immolation. Saves you going overboard on flames and might add some extra movement to the already great poses! Edit: essentially wat @Rungi said better but which I didn’t see until I hit post Edited February 19, 2018 by Kramer
Kramer
Or what about every model one flaming sword and paint the other up icy, maybe with a blue glow? That way you could have contrasting light from different angles.
Bueno
@Rungi @Kramer thanks both for the feedback, i'm glad that the flame swords are working as that would have been a waste of money otherwise lol. I like the idea of having the non flaming swords almost lighting up towards the ends as if they are gathering power. I'm thinking of painting the flames a cold blue like ethereal flames which could transfer to the normal swords quite well. Will paint up a couple of test models and stick them up for more feedback.
Thundercake
I saw your new pictures and the word lightening and was praying "please use blue flame or lightening flame on the swords" as i read the other comments then BAM you delivered! Can't wait to see it! I agree about the ones on fire being swung and the other ones being ignited or what have you. There is that new blog post by Thomas Lyons (I think?) on here about his duradin. fyreslayers, and overlords. he has the fyreslayers "igniting" on their skin in a molten lava sorta way. Seeing something similar with lightening would be great! Also, heads are chaos marauder heads with horns cut off?

They are hellstrider heads like this. Plan is to either do blue glowing eyes or have the engraved runes in the helmet glowing. And yeah i cut off the horns and head blade.

mcfishstick
I really love all your armies! Each one is so characterful and thematic! I love armies that embrace a theme and follow it entirely through all its units, and each of yours does so, especially the Wolves of Ghur! That army in particular will likely inspire my own Khorne force. It has to be said again, great work!

Bueno
Long time since my last post, but I have completed quite a bit on the Wolves of Ghur over the time. I'm attending the RAW narrative event next weekend which has given me a push to finish off the final units for the army, chariots, skull cannons, a sorcerer, chaos spawn and some knights. Will get some pics up this week of all the finished units, but for now here's a pic of my completed Aetherlab for RAW (will be used as a warshine/bloodthrone normally) Here's a full army shot. and finally a little GW style (though nowhere near as good) promo vid for the army, hope you enjoy (its my first attempt at video): Vid1.mp4 5
Rhivan
Wow, I'm glad you updated because if you hadn't I never would've seen this! Your army is absolutely stunning. Since you've completed more of your army would you be willing to post more pictures of individual units?

Bueno
Been a long time since I last posted, but finally got the camera out and taken some photos so here’s a big image dump for you. First up I finished the Stormcast Army I started. I went for my own take on a host from Hallowed Knights. These guys are purposely table top so they can always be a gaming army that can be added to quickly. I wanted a striking scheme and interesting basing to detract from this and improve the overall effect.
