They probably have a time limit to commit to (particularly with it being a third party event) so they can't fit everything in, even though 'live shows' now seem to be dropped in place of pre-recorded interviews and reveals.

A Hel Crown 'winner' stream will probably happen before NOVA, since they made a big dealer of them seeing their stuff first. That's also how 40k 10th worked, with Tyranids getting their own victory event show and the Marines being at NOVA.

But if they want they can just go "pum", mini, "pum", mini, "pum", next game and more minis. Most of the time the complaints I see about previews is that they "talk a lot". So condensing more minis would sort that.

I think we will see reveals of the Stormcast and Skaven books with new models. :D

It's a tough one as I think we will see another couple of books on the run up to the end of the year but I'm not expecting many new models for those books. I think thinks will become more 40K focused as I really do think the Amazon deal is going to either have some sort of show ready and it will generate 40K hype.

I also think they big hype preview shows are of days old as I really don't think they want to tie themselves into stuff now unless it is going to be released.

I'd love to see something for the reimagined Chaos Dwarfs but that may be something they show off at the end of the year as a big tease.

It will be one or another. One faction will be done with the Helcrown event.

Frees up a slot at the NOVA reveal for moar AoS-adjacent stuff /copeium

Speaking of which, at the risk of having steered the topic to far into 40k land (my bad), what are peoples optimistic hopes for seeing there - aside from the Stormcast release wave of course?

Wouldn't be better (unless this is released before NOVA, that I don't discard it) that they save it all for NOVA and give us a very packed preview? It would even soften how poor the quality of this guy is.

I suspect a lot of the "pity hero" releases are essentially training projects or experiments so the quality of them tends not to be especially high.

If at least they would charge less because it is not up to their standards...

What's wrong with 40k at the moment?

After the squat disguised as custodes, we've got an inquisitor... thick (even in the face). He's infinitely inferior to the charismatic metal version, twenty years on. Probably one of the worst updates in GW's plastic history.

And this kinda confirms that they moved this away from a cancelled preview.

None of these are new minis either (previously released as space marines heroes Gatcha-boxes), I'd be surprised if these were the New Model Monday... although I'm often wrong 😁

Last week the "Monday mini" was the start here boxes, so it is not technically a mini nor contains new minis but I think it took that spot.

Yeah, the ease of entry and pricing at the start had me buying every release so I had a complete set for mates when they came around for some tabletop, or for games at the store - but with their price hike initially, the new season split up system with two boxes, then the reback/re-release/re-work of the card system with extra cards to buy ontop again, I just stopped (hence the amount in sig).
The card update fixed some competitive issues for sure, but it didn't help bring new casual (or curious) players to the table.

IMO this is the best kind of game to play with an APP. The boxes could have a code that you claim and you get the cards. Then if new updated cards go out for your models you receive them for free. Give them so cool factor with animations and sounds and could be pretty interesting.

I am already contemplating if I could sculpt a 3D bit for ironbreakers that‘d work 🤔

There was a guy over reddit who was designing duardins with the new CoS aesthetic and was supposed to put them over MMF, this was his profile: Black Sails Studio @Black Sails Studio - MyMiniFactory>

I cannot find the original post, but the aesthetic was a bit different but still pretty sweet.

    EDIT: Here it is!

I really like this armour. I hope, if they reimagine the CoS Duardin they‘ll get such an armour for an entire unit.

I think the same. I was considering purchasing it for some fun CoS conversion, but I am afraid that Duardins won't have such a closer look to the ToW ones.

True, it was definitely experimental for them. I hope they've learned some great lessons they can apply to future lines if they do put this one to rest.

Yeah it's a weird one... it's always a dunking target for the GW community but it's had a more or less healthy product run. But I still view it as a sandbox for them and I'm not sure how dedicated they are considering the quality difference in the cardstock etc. after the rebackings. It's a weird one.

This is one of it's biggest pain points for sure.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was the playing field to what we currently have in terms of cards with Spearhead, for example.

I'm still not convinced underworlds is going away. The Japanese version of Winter maw sold out in less than an hour and any time I go into a store here it's always the game I see being played. Looking on Amazon or eBay there aren't many sealed copies of the old games around. The ones that are there are being sold for more than retail price. Of course gw may have reduced the amount they're making but there aren't any Dominion like signs of unsold product lying around. I've been trying to buy the Eshin warband for ages but it's always out of stock everywhere.

I think it is just being revised and probably will change its direction rather than being removed. Moving all its minis into Legends will be a big hit in the sales, IMO.

  13. Prices of the week!

I tend to collect the Getting Started with AoS magazine, but 15 € is starting to hurt. The first edition one was 5€, the one from the 2nd edition was 6,50 € and the 3rd edition one was 12 €.

There is also that GW does more than AoS, and thus a big plastic 40k release or HH release means they can't do a big AoS release in that timeframe.

Yeah. We are starting to see a shift from the AoS monopoly on warcom articles, so this will be translated into the kits as well pretty soon, and we will be in the usual balance of different ranges.

just curious, why so many people thinking STD would be next few battletome? are't they just got big release last year and darkoath + varanspear few months ago?

Exactly because of that. A new heroe with the BT and one faction less.

It did for 40k, that was half of the entire point of it: that the winner would have an earlier preview, and an ealier release. There wasn't other way that GW wouldn't release space marines first on anything.

Marines 2023/09/24: Sunday Preview – Codex: Space Marines Slams into Action - Warhammer Community (warhammer-community.com)

True. I thought from the top of my head they were launched at the same time.

Pretty sure this is them just taking an in depth look at the rules for the warbands that are going up for preorder

I initially thought this, but considering how late the release has been, and that there were rumours about a preview that was cancelled in the end, it could be new ones.

    The Warcry doggies!

Anyway, I think this ends with all the releases promised on Nova. i'm starting to think that maybe the Hel Crown's winner second wave will happen sooner than expected? GW doesn't have anything left anounced for september.

The winner doesn't come earlier than the loser, it is just shown earlier, but it doesn't affect the release, or at least it didn't for 40k.
