The reason that marvel has been switching up their characters is that most of them were birthed in the early 1960's a time of rampant sexism and racism.  The world has changed (although we still have a ways to go) and it is simply not acceptable for every important character in a fictional universe to be a white male.  If that ruins a franchise for you that has more to do with your outlook than the choices of that franchise.  And star wars has been ruined by ****** storytelling and rehashing the same story again and again, not because there was an Asian Engineer who was good at things other than killing people,

It's not wrong to introduce new superheroes of any background. It is wrong to REPLACE them. I like and accept Black Panther. I won't accept Miles Morales or Thomas Wilson as Captain America. Can you imagine reaction of Black People in the United States if Black Panther was played by a white guy? Street riots at the very least.

  2. There is no problem with women in fantasy/s&f settings. Problem is with forced parity for women and minorities.
The biggest issue is when original characters are being replaced with social justice ones. That's wrong, that's evil. Disney and Marvel lead the way in this shameful practice. It is absolutely unaccaptable to replace certain white male characters with minorities just for the sake of social justice (and yes I've read quite a few of Marvel's comics).
I would not accept if from now on Teclis will be portrayed as an Asian woman with disabilities or if they made Gotrek black just so that more people can feel welcome to the hobby. This is wrong. Before I will be attacked by left wings - I have absolutely nothing against more women or people of color introduced to the hobby as long as this not made at the cost of original concepts. To be honest I want an army that would mostly consist of Asians or Africans.
As for the female models my main army is Sylvaneth so it's hard to accuse me of sexism. Just don't get silly with those models. Women carrying plate armors for swords twice as long as their bodies isn't cool. Telling that in the world of flying turtles everything is possible is not an explanation. People enjoy fantasy as long as it not silly.

Also whenever a topic of representation comes to discuss I wonder what would be a reaction of certain communities if for example 100% of Ogors were black. I wonder if then black people wouldn't call that racist that they have representation among disgusting and evil faction. Same goes for other "unpleasent" factions and minorities.

What about people with disabilities? Do we want an army of people on wheelchairs? I AM MYSELF A PERSON WITH DISABILITY and I don't want and expect AoS to give any representation of this. It would be unnatural.

Very impressed by the new sisters of battle minis. Some of them would make pretty good AOS conversions.  Would absolutely love to see gw do a Devoted of Sigmar army with a similar style.

To be honest I didn't understand hype for Sisters in the first place but I perceive them as one of the most boring army so far. Maybe 40k minis are just not for me. Every time I see new minis for 40k they all look the same for me.

Well, you need a third battleline and you only generate 3 RD points automatically.  May want a liege kavalos and then get the 3rd battleline.

    How about this?

    Allegiance: Ossiarch Bonereapers

    Leaders
    Liege-Kavalos (200)
    Mortisan Soulmason (140)
Vokmortian, Master of the Bone-tithe (180)

    Battleline
    20 x Mortek Guard (260)
    - Nadirite Blade and Shield
    10 x Mortek Guard (130)
    - Nadirite Blade and Shield
    10 x Mortek Guard (130)
    - Nadirite Blade and Shield

    Units
    3 x Necropolis Stalkers (200)
    3 x Necropolis Stalkers (200)

    Behemoths
    Mortek Crawler (200)
    Mortek Crawler (200)

    Battalions
    Mortek Ballistari (100)

    Total: 1940 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 106

So the idea is to wreak havoc with Crawlers from afar guarded by 1 unit of 20 Mortek Guard and supported by Soulmason and Liege-Kavalos. Other units for objective capture. There is room left for an Endless Spell.

All of my ogres I purchased since release have come with rounds. Only one that came with squares was the slaughtermaster and it came with its square and oval base.

Thanks. Am I correct that Ogors come in old boxes? Not the "white ones"?

  6. @Sception

Wow, thank you. You put a lot of effort into that mini guide. Thanks.

There is a lot to think through. Based on what you write I guess I will go for both ways of assembling. Not at once. I mean - have an army that is fun to paint and one that is more competetive. Comparing Stalkers and Immortis I think that the first is better but I like the look of Immortis more. Same goes with Mortek Swords and Spears. Maybe while having 2 boxes of FoB I will assemble both 1 of each, just for the sake of cool appearance, and later on prospectively get 1 extra set of either of them.

Sadly, Morghast seem to be the least competetive although I think they are one of the best looking models in AoS. They are most likely to be droped from my 2k list. So far I like sth like this:

    Allegiance: Ossiarch Bonereapers

    Leaders
Vokmortian, Master of the Bone-tithe (180)
    Mortisan Boneshaper (130)

    Battleline
    20 x Mortek Guard (260)
    - Nadirite Blade and Shield
    20 x Mortek Guard (260)
    - Nadirite Spear and Shield

    Units
    3 x Necropolis Stalkers (200)
    3 x Necropolis Stalkers (200)

    Behemoths
    Mortek Crawler (200)
    Mortek Crawler (200)

    Battalions
    Mortek Ballistari (100)

    Total: 1730 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 99

Probably need more leaders. Need to read more into warscrolls.

Thanks again for your help. It will take a while to complete those OBR.

why would sky pirates and traders have tanks?

Oh I think AoS isn't too strict about cohesion of themes across armies. Think of it as another chamber/clan/guild. We've lately seen a lot of that Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz in one battletome. Gutbusters and Beastclaw Raiders. Glommspite Gitz that Grots, Throggoths and Spiderfang together.  Not to mention Stormcasts, CoS or Skaven. Little effort is needed to bring together sky machines and ground machines together. "Years ago Kharadrons divided themselves for those that will rule the sky and those that will live on the ground but they had both in common the love for Aether-devices. Bla, Bla, Bla.... Now they stand together once again to face the terror of Chaos and Death forces on the horizon. Bla, Bla, Bla... Done. Let's face it. Mechs are always cool. :)

  8. Funny or tragic thing is I have close to 2k points of Kharadron Overlords still in boxes. Not because I lost interest or sth. From the reveal day I knew it will be my favourite or at least in top 3  just because of glorious design. They are still in boxes because I expect them to get a full rework in terms of rules. Many units have weapon choices and thus I feel it's too risky to build them now when after a new battletome roles of some units may completely differ from what they do now. Hope it's not just point reduction. Skyvessels should be fearsome war machines that your opponent will treat with respect. Spamming them at 100p reduction is not the way when a bunch of peasents can destroy them. I'd rather keep them high with their cost but give them strength of Durthu/Cabbage/Bloodthirster.

In terms of unit expansions it's easy - ground forces. Mechs, tanks.

  9. Edit: How to insert a build from w-h.com builder?

    Allegiance: Destruction
    LEADERS
    Tyrant (160)
    - General
    Butcher (140)
    - Cleaver
    Frostlord on Stonehorn (400)
    UNITS
    12 x Ogor Gluttons (400)
    - Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists
    4 x Ironguts (220)
    4 x Leadbelchers (160)
    4 x Mournfang Pack (280)
    - Gargant Hackers
    2 x Ironblaster (240)
TOTAL: 2000/2000 EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 0 WOUNDS: 150
    LEADERS: 3/6 BATTLELINES: 1 (3+) BEHEMOTHS: 1/4 ARTILLERY: 1/4
    ARTEFACTS: 0/1 ALLIES: 0/400

Basically it's 2x Feast of Bones and 1 Start Collecting. What do you think of it?

I've ordered my boxes to an online webstore (not GW). Now, the waiting is stressing: will I get my boxes? lol (yes it was a super early order, but still...).

Yeah, same here. I've ordered 2 boxes of Feast (think most of the stuff will be useful for 2k armies) and refreshed the site twice that day before preorder went online. Sadly with the Looncurse I had an argument with the very same e-shop but in the end they sent me my copy of the box. Guess they've learned their lesson as Feast was impossible to order later that day, probably after they had sold several copies.

  11. At first I thought that I order Feast of Bones only for OBR and then sell Ogors. Now I think I will build and paint Ogors first, lol.

It was a great year for AoS by the way. Perhaps the best so far. Many battletomes (somebody did count?), Gloomspite, Slaanesh, Bonereapers, best GHB. To be perfect it only lacked models, terrain and/or spells for older armies (Fyreslayers, and Orruks negligence is most annoying).

    EDIT

I would almost forget - no new Stormcast army! That's gold!

And great boxes - Looncurse, Feast of Bones and the first one with FEC and Skaven.
