would you say they are better than normal Evos?

Aye, Evos are still in a pretty bad place. If you could make them battleline that would solve a lot of their problems but, alas, you can't. Evocats, however, are still pretty savage.

Battlemage sounds interesting. What does he do?

Battlemage of Ghur adds 2" to the charge roll. Can cause all kinds of mayhem.

what kind of list are you taking?

I'll be bringing my Annhilators. Love them. Aiming for something along the lines of the following:

    Knight-Incantor, Lord-Imperatant, Lord-Relictor, Vindictors x5, Grandhammers 3x3, birds x3, prosecutors x3, longstrike 2x3.

This will be 2 drops. I find GV to be a trap and 2 drops almost guarantees you priority first turn.

I’d be tempted to cut her and spend the points elsewhere

I mainly use her as a support piece for my 20 BGR. She does very well and I'm yet to have her die. Just curious, what would you include instead of her? I always list build without her but always feel like I'm missing something.

Anyone here have experience playing with 9x Spirit Hosts? Is it about they tankiness of the unit and effectiveness of returning them?

Did it at the start when the book dropped. Quickly realised it was a bit unnecessary as just a unit of 3 is pretty hard to kill off.

    Lady O

She's such a funny one. She's an auto-include for me and does wonders. I try writing lists without her but always think I'd miss her and revert. I get the impression she's very much love her or hate her.

  5. Longstrike are still rock hard. Even more so now that GW tried to nerf them. Previously I'd run a block of 6, which was susceptible to being wiped out in one go. Now, 2x3 is defensively a lot better and can really create some crossfire. They're a priority target.

There's a similar style I'm in love with that I keep saying if I ever repainted my army this would be what I'd do. I just haven't been crazy enough to do it, though.

I'd just do a blue in the same vibrance as the green here.

These look similar in style to the following:

I considered this as, as you rightly say, it looks awesome.

    Regarding repainting... go for it!

The bloody bed sheets style is becoming more of a classic scheme than the official GW version, it just works so well on them.

Aye, I think the following is the basis of the theme:

I was never 100% sold on my green and it surprisingly took a long time to do. When I saw this vid, I was sold. I changed a couple of things and haven't quite decided how I'm gonna do the balefire. I'll decide one day.

I'm curious: Do you have your armies painted as the procession you play or plan on doing so?

I don't think anyone really cares what colour you've went for and what subfaction you run. I continuously jump between them. Recently I've restarted my NH. The old style (green) and new (bloody) are below.

  9. Played against my friend’s NH last night with my SCE. Was interesting to be on the other side of a NH army. Going into the game I wasn’t too confident as my SCE are very elite with high rend, high damage attacks. I was very surprised by how much damage I did cause though. Longstrikes, despite GW’s attempts to nerf them, are still super strong and definitely something to watch out for. I popped Reikenor, 10x Grimghast and some miscellaneous CRH in the first turn using a combo of them and 3x Grandhammers. Second turn, bye bye Lady O… and on and on the game went. Despite the damage I was pumping out though, he won due to the sheer number of bodies he had on the table. I couldn’t compete with primaries and slowly fell behind on score. Lessons I learned though for when fighting SCE with my NH, I think it would be useful to get across the board asap. Hit them hard and fast as I did lose the units that he could actually touch.

  10. It's a tough one. I agree that I think a one drop is the best for Nagash lists but I really don't know whether going first or second is best. On the one hand, going first means you can get all defenses up, dictate board control, and place yourself appropriately for magic defences. On the other, everything in me and many years experience running Death reminds me that IGOUGO is the way I like to play. I find that Death need that recursion and the double turn, more so now with NH, absolutely destroys us.

Usually a proximity in location leads to war and unlike futuristic settings where space travel is an easy option, most factions can't just beam themselves where they want to.

Isn't that the whole point of realm gates though? Not arguing either way's better... just that the vastness of the setting is deliberately mitigated by the realm gates. I can't remember where I read it but they specifically have the gates as they found it hard to justify why, to give an example,  Seraphon would be fighting the Empire in WHF on your table. These days, bam - a realm gate put them together.

    utilising 2 x GV's to score Barge with 3VP

Been thinking about doing this myself. Can also turn into an easy Desecrate their Lands as well.

I am currently painting up Awlrach, I do want to give him a few games and I think it could be quite fun to be able to slam most of your army 9" away turn 1 if you build for it, but probably not an ideal tactic.

Ran a list once with a turn 1 full army charge. Completely bounced off an Ogor Mawtribes army and got mullered turn 2. Never ran it again.

Wish them the best of luck. Love Nagash and really want him to do well. I recently rebought him now that he can run with NH. Like the look of the list.

This is quickly becoming my favorite style of battle reports. Gold standard, I'd say. Also, the commentary at minute 30 *chef's kiss*.

The format is perfect - big fan. Watched this battle tonight. Very nicely played by the NH player. Makes me want to buy an incarnate.

Does the Reikenor condemned alegiance from Bel'akor book usable and valid today ?

I took a screenshot of this at the time of faq and errata release. Can't seem to find it again though so... who knows.

Edit: huh, that's a pretty pixelated pic when uploaded. It basically says Broken Realms: Bel'akor still stands.

  15. Played NH for the 1st time in a while last night and 1st time in the new season. I forgot how hard we hit. Wiped out a StD force in the 2nd turn playing turf war. Didn't like the mission and still really struggling to find a list I'm content with. Went with the following last night:

     - Army Faction: Nighthaunt

      - Subfaction: The Scarlet Doom

      - Grand Strategy: Take What’s Theirs

      - Triumph: Bloodthirsty

    LEADERS

    Guardian of Souls (150)

      - General

      - Command Traits: Master of Magic

      - Chill Blade

      - Artefacts of Power: Midnight Tome

      - Spells: Seal of Shyish

    Krulghast Cruciator (150)

      - Artefacts of Power: Arcane Tome

      - Spells: Soul Cage

    Spirit Torment (115)

    Lady Olynder (340)

      - Spells: Shademist

    BATTLELINE

    Bladegheist Revenants (350)

    Spirit Hosts (125)

    Hexwraiths (160)

    Hexwraiths (160)

    Bladegheist Revenants (175)

    Bladegheist Revenants (175)

    ENDLESS SPELLS & INVOCATIONS

    1 x Purple Sun of Shyish (70)

    TOTAL POINTS: 1970/2000

Points to note - Purple Sun did sweet f.a. Gonna reconsider Endless Spells. 10 BGR die just as quick as 10 CRH. Why pay premium for this? Hex are immense. 20 BGR refuse to die and are so strong. Lady O does well but I'm always tempted to swap her for Kurdoss and use the extra points for something else.

Thinking of just going all in on Hex moving forward.

     - Army Faction: Nighthaunt

      - Subfaction: The Scarlet Doom

    LEADERS

    Spirit Torment (115)

    Guardian of Souls (150)

    Krulghast Cruciator (150)

    Lady Olynder (340)

    BATTLELINE

    Hexwraiths (160)

    Hexwraiths (160)

    Hexwraiths (160)

    Spirit Hosts (125)

    Bladegheist Revenants (350)

    Hexwraiths (160)

    OTHER

    Myrmourn Banshees (105)

    TOTAL POINTS: 1975/2000

Mortals Terminexus was buffed by extending the range from 12" to 18"

Shyish Reaper and Vault of Souls have been nerfed considerably by removing all boni against terrified units.

Shyish Reaper doesn't get the +1 to beat the save characteristic anymore

Vault got double-whammy'd. It doesn't deal a Mortal on 5+ against terrified targets and after it explodes it's not d6+1 mortals anymore.

Was that really necessary? Nighthaunt have the single most expensive set of faction Endless Spells after the latest points adjustments

Is it not just a mistake and they've listed old scrolls accidentally? I've not had a proper look but are they just duplicates of the old scrolls?

Fright or Flight seems decent; I'm going to experiment with it over the next 4 games (lists locked in for a local league we're doing).

Basically don't be within 6" of the enemy whilst on an objective.

So if you have no units on objectives turn 5 you score it.

If you get tabled you still score it; if you go second in round 5 and aren't locked in no retreat you can guarantee it, might cost you an objective point or two but worth it to score 3.

There is one battle plan where table quarters act as objectives, that one might be a problem, suggest going hard early on or playing keep away turn 4/5.

Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards this. Either this or Take What's Theirs. I figure with our movement shenanigans we can set this up pretty well for turn 5. Would tie in with Desecrate and Barge for turns 4 and 5 as well.
